Wow, what a guy! Mitt Romney is going up on the air tomorrow in Iowa and New Hampshire with a new attack ad. The target? The state of Massachusetts, whose citizens extended him the honor of choosing him to to be their Governor for one term. “In the most liberal state in the country,” a sinister-sounding narrator intones over the obligatory backdrop over the obligatory backdrop of photos of John Kerry and Mike Dukakis, “one Republican stood up, and cut spending instead of raising taxes. He enforced immigration laws, stood up for traditional marriage and the sanctity of human life.
Just as an additional thought: Aside from being far brighter than George II, Romney (or any other Republican for that matter) will merely be a continuation of the failed politics of the radical right and we don’t need that anymore.

That’s not an attack ad on the people of Mass. It’s an ad to show even in a Liberal state like Mass he was able to enact conservative principals. The same thing goes for Rudy. He has often said that in NYC he was able to cut taxes, bring down crime, etc.
He should have mentioned that he socialized healthcare and signed in a “liberal” gun law. Oops can’t say that. That’s not too “conservative.”
The real problem here is that it is all “snake oil!” What can be said in seconds is only about spin and not about what is. What is being unsaid is far more important than what Romney (or any other politician for that matter) actually says in a carefully scripted advertising campaign. Of course, that leads to the secondary problem, that the voters actually believe what is being said and act on those beliefs without ever checking on the facts. One such fact might be that Romney himself has never been one to pander to the extreme right wing of his party. Now that he fancies himself presidential material, that is exactly what he is doing. Don’t know about you, but I am generally cynical about the political (or Madison Avenue) spin, so much so that I lend little credence to the vocalizations of politicians (or advertising executives.)

How is he pandering to the extreme right wing of the party. He is for the assault weapons ban and he’s not talking about cutting gov’t by a whole lot, so he’s not exactly an extreme right winger.
With the exception of Ron Paul, none of the candidates are extreme. Now on the left, you guys got some extreme left wingers. John Edwards is talking the good ole’ socialist talk. I won’t even get into his $400 haircuts and how he made thousands talking about poverty. He’s a classic limo liberal.
